A Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase by Hozan, Meiji period, of ovoid form, finely painted and gilt with a continuous scene of samurai on a buff ground, beneath a collar of polychrome and gilt simulated brocade, the base with a band of scattered flowers on a gilt whorl ground, iron red and gilt signature to base, height approx 12cm.
