A Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase by Gyokushu, Meiji period, the tapered cylindrical body painted and gilt with opposing scenes of samurai and bijin, between lion mask moulded handles to shoulders, on a dark blue ground filled with gilt overlaid foliage, black and gilt signature to base, height approx 24cm (retouching to gilt).
