Three Second World War Medals, comprising 1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star and 1939-45 War Medal, each unofficially named in engraved capitals '1167921 Sgt. R.B.D. Hill R.A.F', mounted on a bar, with accompanying named photograph view of personnel, detailed 'No 30 Course', two portrait photographs, two further photographs, a photograph of his named cruciform memorial and typed copies of three letters from his fellow crew members to his father detailing the circumstances of his death on 8th September 1941 when, aged 20, serving as a Sergeant Pilot in 115 Squadron RAF VR, he was killed. Sergeant R. Hill was serving as a pilot in a Wellington Bomber and he was the last member of his crew who had not bailed out of the aeroplane. He is recorded as being buried in Kiel War Cemetery.
