GELL, William. Pompeiana: the Topography, Edifices and Ornaments of Pompeii, the result of excavations since 1819. London: Lewis A. Lewis, 1837. 2 vols., 8vo (240 x 153mm). Engraved additional title, plates and illustrations (2 plates hand-coloured, some illustrations on India paper mounted). Contemporary calf prize binding, with a gilt armorial at the centre of each cover, gilt spines with a related armorial crest in the top and bottom compartments, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, g.e. (lightly soiled, extremities bumped). Provenance: Charles J. Richardes (presentation inscription, signature); The Library Collection of the Late W. Leslie Weller MBE, DL, FSA.
