LOT 1080
A late Victorian brass mounted ebonized directors clock, circa 1890, the three chain eight day triple fusee movement striking quarters on eight bells and hours on a gong with pull repeat mechanism, the brass arched dial with subsidiary strike/silent and pendulum adjustment dials above a silvered chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'John Moore & Sons, London, 15290, clock makers to Her Majesty the Queen', the back plate with similarly inscribed oval plaque, the ebonized case with brass flame finials above further brass mounts, including a pair of foliate handles and pierced fret panels, on a rectangular base and foliate scroll feet, height approx 76cm, with pendulum, case key and winding key. Note: John Moore & Sons were renowned clock makers who worked out of Clerkenwell Close, London, and as stated on the dial were clock makers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria.
