LOT 1185
An Indo-Persian commemorative presentation embroidered panel, dated 1887, probably to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, worked in gold and silver wire with the Royal supporters, the rampant lion and unicorn framing a central dedication, in a dense foliate ground, against a purple velvet ground, approx 73cm x 118cm (some areas of fraying to ground and some unstitching). Note: the central dedication, dated AH1305, is equivalent to AD 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee and tenth anniversary of the Queen being proclaimed Empress of India, with the Lion and Unicorn supporters, taken from the Royal coat of arms it seems likely that this is a double commemoration.
