LOT 1150
A mid-19th Century French white marble and ormolu table clock with eight day movement by Vincenti of Paris, striking hours and half hours on a bell via an outside countwheel, backplate stamped with maker and numbered '6926', the case modelled as three gilt putti supporting a black globe representing the sky at night with applied gilt stars and Roman hour numerals, the white marble cylindrical pedestal applied with ormolu ribbon tied flower festoons on a quatrefoil base, height approx 50cm, together with pendulum (lacking bell). Note: Jean Vincenti, originally from Corsica, set up his first Paris workshop in 1791. The firm won a number of awards for clockmaking and continued to trade until the end of the 19th Century. They specialised in making movements only and most of the clocks were cased by independent case makers, as in this case.
