LOT 1125
A Regency brass inlaid amboyna and ebony mantel clock with eight day twin chain fusee movement striking on a bell with pull repeat, the circular white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and inscribed 'Grimalde & Johnson, Strand, London', the amboyna arched case with inlaid brass and ebony frieze flanked by a pair of gilt bronze foliate finials above a pair of ebony octagonal and turned columns, the front of the case inlaid with a pair of ebony dragons above an ebony and brass inlaid key fret and star motif band, on a plinth base and turned gilt bronze feet, height approx 29.5cm. Note: William Johnson and Samuel Grimalde are recorded as working together at 431 Strand, London between 1809 and 1825. William Johnson is later recorded to have worked at 50 Strand, London from 1825 to 1842, indicating their partnership was dissolved in 1825.
