A mid-Victorian marine chronometer, circa 1860, the two day movement with Earnshaw-type spring detent, cut bimetallic balance with circular heat compensation weights and blued steel helical balance spring, the silvered dial with subsidiary state of wind and seconds dials, Roman numerals and inscribed 'Thomas Adams, Maker to HRH Prince Albert, 36 Lombard St., London' and numbered '3767', in a brass bowl hung in gimbals, within a mahogany three-tier brass-bound case, the lid interior with green paper trade label for 'D. McGregor & Co', height approx 20cm.
