A Japanese lacquer table-top cabinet on stand, Meiji period, the sides, top and back decorated with variously shaped black ground panels, each filled with gilt, brown and iron red birds, flowers and landscapes, all reserved against a brown ground with black and gilt flowers and tendrils, the front fitted with an arrangement of four drawers and two hinged cupboard doors, inset with shibayama inlaid and carved ivory plaques of flowers, insects and bust portraits, against gilt trees, birds and landscapes on a black ground, the cupboard doors revealing six further drawers, the black stand with gilt ho-o birds on scroll legs, height approx 65cm (some faults).
