A small group of Chinese 'Diana Cargo' blue and white export porcelain, early 19th Century, comprising a pair of triple arch pattern coffee cans and saucers and a chess player's pattern tea bowl and saucer, all bearing Christies Diana Cargo paper labels (faults). Note: the Diana was owned by Palmer & Co of Calcutta and was licensed by the English East India Company to sale between Calcutta or Madras and Canton. The Diana was on one of these voyages when on the 14th March 1816, she hit some rocks off the Straits of Malacca and sank. The wreck was identified and recovered in 1994 and its porcelain cargo auctioned by Christies, Amsterdam in March 1995.
