A Georgian midshipman's dirk by Dudley, Portsmouth, with straight diamond section blade, length approx 12.5cm, gilded circular guard with roped edge, turned ivory grip with inset lion's head pommel, in its brass sheath with two suspension rings and attached paper label stating that this was Admiral Hamilton's dirk, together with a letter, dated 1892, and a related 1952 reprint of 'A Narrative... of the Boarding and Capture of the Hermione Frigate in 1799' by Admiral Sir Edward Hamilton, BART, KCB.
