A Meissen porcelain cabinet cup and matched saucer, early 19th Century, the cobalt blue ground can shaped cup painted with an oval panel depicting Socrates within gilt framing beneath a gilt scroll rim, fitted with an angular handle, the saucer painted with a titled view of Troilus and Cressida within gilt framing, crossed swords and asterisk mark to each base in underglaze blue with black painted titles and incised and impressed numerals (minor wear).
