An Edwardian silver mounted rectangular cigarette box, the hinge lid inset with a glass panel depicting a representation of the Gordon Bennett trophy in gilt on a black ground, Birmingham 1903 by Thomas Bishton, length approx 9.7cm. Note: The Gordon Bennett Cup was an automobile race established by James Gordon Bennett, millionaire owner of the New York Herald which was awarded annually from 1900 to 1905. The 1903 event in Ireland gave rise to the birth of British racing green.
