A Japanese Arita ware circular dish, possibly the Hiekoba kiln and Kanei period (1624-1645), painted in underglaze blue with a white crane against a blue halo in otherwise a cream/white glaze, the reverse with traces of the potter's fingertips, diameter approx 20.3cm, together with a pine case. Note: see Soame Jenyns 'Japanese Porcelains' for similar illustrations on page 355.
