A Japanese ivory carving of a Chinese emperor, Meiji/Taisho period, modelled with a scroll in his left hand, the other hand placed on the pommel of his sword, incised two character signature on red lacquer tablet to base, height approx 35cm (repair to headgear). Note: possibly representing the first Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi.
