An exceptional Japanese boxwood okimono carving, signed Masayoshi, mid-19th Century, modelled as a group of four monkeys unfolding and examining a kakemono depicting Shoki the demon queller grasping a monkey, the scroll suspended from a roped loop carved in ivory, the monkeys eyes inlaid in tortoiseshell, incised signature to posterior of one monkey, height approx 18cm (minor faults).
