A Vietnamese 'Hoi An hoard' circular dish, circa 1480, the centre painted in underglaze blue with lotus within a rim of further foliage, printed 'Hoi An ship wreck' sticker to base, diameter approx 36cm. Note: in 1480 a junk laden with a cargo of blue and white porcelain bound for the markets of South East Asia sank near Faifo (modern day Hoi An) in an area of the South China Sea know as the Dragon Seas. There it lay until its recovery in 1999.
