LOT 1100
A Chinese jade ruyi sceptre, probably late Qing dynasty, the stone of pale celadon tone with russet flushes, the serpentine stem carved with a raised field of meticulously carved beads flanked by feathered scroll borders and chrysanthemum mon, a further field of beads carved into the head under a bat upon whose back rises a cloud emanating from russet vapours rising from the stem back, length approx 43cm, together with a hardwood stand. Note: the mirrored feather edge scrolls framing the raised field on the stem recall similar scrolls on Peking enamelled palace bowls of the 17th Century and 18th Century.
