A pair of Victorian silver comports, each centre engraved with an armorial, probably that of the Spencer-Churchill family, above the motto 'Fiel Pero Desdichado', within a fluted border engraved with strapwork panels, framed by a cast stylized guilloche and foliate rim, the circular pedestal foot with cast foliate and strapwork band, London 1880 by James Garrard, detailed 'Garrards, Panton Street, London', diameter approx 21.5cm, height approx 8.8cm. Note: the engraved arms and motto appear to be that of Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough (1706-1758).
