A George III silver gilt lined circular oak snuff box and cover, the cover interior inscribed 'This box was part of the large....which belonged to Messrs Andrew Reid & Co Brewers, Liquorpond Street, was erected with English oak, A.D. 1793, contained 13,000 barrels, taken down by Messrs Back & Everitt Backmakers London A.D. 1817, the iron hoops weighed 35 tons, and the whole value when full of porter was about £50,000', London 1818, the cover applied with a shield shaped plaque inscribed 'George Everitt, of Caistor Castle, County of Norfolk in the 86th year of his age in robust health and buoyant spirits. Presents this box to W.W. Simpson of Montague Place, Russell Square, London....A.D. 1845', diameter approx 8.3cm.
