LOT 400
A Victorian silver and carved ivory memento mori desk seal in the form of a macabre head and shoulders bust, the right side of his ivory head finely detailed with curly hair and a lizard biting his ear, the skeletal left side incorporating an entwined serpent grasping an apple in its jaws, his forehead centred with a toad, the silver shoulders moulded in relief with a lizard pulling a cloak across his left shoulder, the circular socle with armorial crest matrix, London 1874 by Alexander Crichton, height approx 9.5cm.
