A rare Cantagalli maiolica circular dish, late 19th Century, decorated after Benozzo Gozzoli's frescoes in the Palazzo Riccardi, in coloured enamels, ruby and copper lustres and gilding, with two figures on horseback with standing attendants before turreted buildings in a lush landscape, blue painted cockerel mark and inscription to base, diameter approx 27.3cm (broken and glued). Note: a similar vase sold at Christies King Street, 'Italian Ceramic Art 1400-1900', 22nd April 2008, lot 126.
