A Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase, Meiji period, the shouldered tapering body painted with opposing panels, one painted with bijin in a riverside landscape, the other with birds flying amongst wisteria above a waters edge, fence and flowers, reserved against a blue ground, overlaid in gilt with bamboo, flowerheads, simulated brocade and stiff leaf borders, signed in gilt to base, height approx 20cm.
