"CHARLES II, King of England, and Samuel PEPYS. A manuscript document signed by King Charles II and countersigned by Samuel Pepys. Whitehall: dated 16th September 1674. 1p. folio (298 x 185mm.) The document to the Principal Officers and Commissioners of the Navy, ordering them to enter George Wingreene as Master Cook of the Fireship ""Anne & Christopher"". (Mounted on a further sheet of paper, some spotting.) Framed and glazed within a pierced gilt composition section (faults). Provenance: purchased as lot 224 at Sotheby & Co in their sale of Valuable Printed Books, Autograph Letters, Historical Documents and a Russian Manuscript on 24th June 1975, by the father of the current vendor (details verso)."
