VERE, Francis. The Commentaries. Cambridge: printed by John Field, 1657. Small folio (274 x 173mm.) 6 plates (2 folding, 1 double-page), 4 folding maps. (Minor spotting or browning.) Early 19th Century calf tooled in gilt and blind, gilt turn-ins, gauffered g.e. (extremities slightly scuffed, upper cover detached). Wing V240. Provenance: Sir Gilbert Elliot, 3rd Baronet and Lord Minto (1722-1777, Treasurer of the Navy, armorial shelf label with motto 'credunt quod vident').
