GREENE, Graham. The Third Man and The Fallen Idol. London, Melbourne, etc.: William Heinemann Ltd., 1950. First edition, 8vo (182 x 124mm.) Original cloth, dust-jacket (dust-jacket creased, head and foot of spine torn with loss). Provenance: Gervase [Mathew] (presentation inscription signed from the author 'For Gervase / This joke / with love from Graham / July 1950'); 'Mary' (presentation inscription from Gervase dated August 1950). Note: Gervase Mathew was a close friend of Greene's and to whom 'The Power and the Glory' is dedicated. - And an a.n.s. from Gervase to 'My dear M.' and one further volume by Greene inscribed by Gervase ('The Power and the Glory', London & Toronto: April 1940, reprint 8vo) (3).
