LOT 4021
A Regency rosewood and gilt metal mounted writing table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, the rectangular top inset with leather and fitted with a gilt metal Greek key three-quarter gallery, the single frieze drawer with a central anthemion key escutcheon and six-point star handle plates, the interior fitted with a hinged writing surface, raised on a flared parcel gilt stem, the triform base with three finely cast gilt bronze winged-scroll claw feet terminating in castors, height approx 80cm, width approx 62cm, depth approx 51cm. Note: the familiar anthemion key escutcheon and star plate handles on this table can be seen on other Gillows furniture on page 267 in Volume I and page 96 in Volume II of 'Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840' by Susan E. Stuart.
